No-Smoking Policy

Last updated: October 2026

In short
  • The entire Master Car Rental fleet is 100% smoke-free.
  • Smoking is not allowed inside any vehicle, whether or not it displays a no-smoking sticker.
  • If the vehicle is returned with traces of tobacco, a $275.00 cleaning fee applies.

What is Master Car Rental's no-smoking policy?

As part of our smoke-free policy, we are firmly committed to providing our customers with a clean and safe fleet. To meet that goal, every Master Car Rental vehicle strictly follows this policy and, as a result, smoking inside is not allowed. A $275.00 cleaning fee will apply if the vehicle is returned with traces of tobacco.

Who does the no-smoking policy apply to?

Everyone who rents a Master Car Rental vehicle must follow our smoke-free policy and refrain from using tobacco inside it. The Master Car Rental fleet is considered 100% smoke-free.

What cleaning process do vehicles that have been smoked in go through?

Tobacco smoke leaves residue on the vehicle's fabrics, fibers and surfaces. For that reason the vehicle goes through a thorough cleaning process that includes vacuuming and treatment with a natural deodorizer. If the vehicle has to be taken out of service for 24 hours during that process, a $275.00 cleaning fee applies.

What is the penalty for smoking in a Master Car Rental vehicle?

A $275.00 fee will apply to cover the cost of cleaning the vehicle. The cleaning process means taking the vehicle out of service immediately for at least 24 hours so that every surface can be treated and cleaned, which costs Master Car Rental the chance to rent the vehicle during that period.

What if the vehicle I receive has no no-smoking sticker?

All Master Car Rental vehicles are non-smoking. Smoking is not allowed in any Master Car Rental vehicle, whether or not there is an explicit sign saying so.

How can I make sure I won't be charged a cleaning fee?

Everyone in the vehicle must refrain from smoking inside it at all times. Before leaving the pickup office, we recommend inspecting the vehicle to make sure there are no traces of tobacco. If you find evidence during your rental, let Master Car Rental staff know so we can consider replacing the vehicle or giving it a quick cleaning. If that is not possible, remember to report it to the staff handling your return.

When is a vehicle considered to have been smoked in?

The staff handling the return will determine whether someone has smoked inside the vehicle.

When will I be notified of the smoking cleaning fee?

In most cases the inspection and notification take place at the Master Car Rental return area. If office staff are not present when you return the vehicle, you will see the fee itemized on your final invoice or on your payment card.
